VARSITY SOFTBALL DESTROYS GAC IN 5 INNINGS, 12-0
The Lady Indians faced off with our private school friends from GAC yesterday on "Heroes Night." What a lovely evening it was with our players honoring their favorite heroes from firefighters, nurses, deputies, and an assortment of our nation's finest.
After the pre-game ceremony, our "Heroes" took it from there scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Taylor Burton "smoked" a line drive HR over the centerfield fence driving in Cadence Ivey and Aubrey Woodson, both who had been "hit by the pitcher." Three batters later, 2nd baseman Ella Waters doubled driving in Ava Abernathy and Brooklyn Estrella that had already collected singles. That gave us a 5-0 lead at the end of one.
Behind a dominating pitching performance by Taylor Burton and no errors in the field, GAC was not able to muster anything offensively. As a matter of fact, they did not have a runner reach 2nd base the entire game. They only had 3 hits in the game.
Our girls scored 1 more in the bottom of the second and then exploded for 6 more in the bottom of the fourth. Leading the hitting for the Indians were Ava Abernathy, Ella Waters, Ava Estes, Riley Dyer, Brooklyn Estrella, Anniston Antonia, and Taylor Burton with the dinger!
