LUMPKIN WINS FIRST SEASON HOME MATCH AGAINST NORTH FORSYTH
The Lumpkin County HS Rifle Team won at home against North Forsyth High School on Thursday, October 30th by a score of 1130 - 1101. This was Lumpkin’s second win of the season following their defeat of Parkview High School the previous week. In addition to winning their second match, Lumpkin improved their team score by 22 points from 1108 against Parkview to 1130 in the North Forsyth match.
J.T. Wright (Sr) led the team again in scoring with a score of 292. His score qualified him for state. Athletes that shoot an individual score of 292 or higher, 300 being a perfect score, qualify to compete at the state championship. Joey Dechant (Sr), again, shot the second highest score for the team by matching his personal best of 281. Liam Kearney (Jr), Justice Kiefer (So), and Ivy Stowers (So) also competed in the match. Kearney’s 279 and Kiefer’s 278 contributed to the team’s final score. Makayla Prosser (So) also participated in the match for experience.
The Indians' next match will be on Thursday, November 6th at 5:00 at home against North Gwinnett HS. The team would appreciate anyone that comes out to support them. Admission to the matches is free.
