Lumpkin County Cross Country traveled to Carrollton for the State Meet on November 8th. We ran in the afternoon this year so we were ready to go when we got off the bus. The boys ran at 2pm, led by Wyatt, who finished second, with Evan Good was 19th and Nickson McGillavray was 31st. Following close behind were Pauli Ramirez, Carter Gilreath, Solomon Alhadeff and Bowen Aiken within 1 minute of each other at the finish. Witt Windham finished as an Individual Runner Up! The LCHS Boys XC Team finished at state in third place in AAA. The girls were competing with only 5 girls (typically 7 in a varsity race) due to injuries. The 5 girls powered through and finished in 12th at the State level. Keli George ran well and placed 11th overall. Joanie Phillabaum placed 26th. Coming in after them were Blakley Bell, Violet Green and Sarah Merkl. The girls team placed 12th in the State.
