Lumpkin Swimmers Shatter 16 Personal Records at Trojan Invitational

LUMPKIN SWIMMERS SHATTER 16 PERSONAL RECORDS AT TROJAN INVITATIONAL

The Lumpkin County swim teams continued their blistering start to the season, delivering another standout performance at the North Hall Trojan Invitational. The team's collective effort resulted in a massive wave of improvement, with 12 swimmers notching 16 total personal record (PR) times across the board. The day was highlighted by widespread individual success: ???????Four athletes—Amelia Turk, Ellie Moye, Sawyer Hawk, and Eli Turk—demonstrated incredible focus by earning new PRs in both of their individual events. ???????The team dominated the 50 Fly event. Elijah Duffee placed first in the boys' race, slashing 0.67 seconds off his previous best time. ???????Amelia Turk ensured a 50 Fly sweep for Lumpkin, claiming first place in the girls' event and dropping 0.42 seconds from her previous PR. Swimmers of the Meet Honored Head Coach Luke Maloney recognized two athletes for their leadership and growth: "Our swimmers of the meet were Mary Britton Dirkes and Amelia Turk. Amelia Turk has done a great job improving her technique and focusing on mastering her dive. She was engaged in her teammates events and celebrated their success along with hers. Mary Britton has really grown as a swimmer this season. Making the transition to the High School level can be difficult but she has maintained a positive attitude and the results showed this weekend with a new PR in the 50 free and phenomenal flip turns.” The Lumpkin swimmers will look to maintain this high-level momentum as they head back to Gainesville for their next competition, the Gobble Wobble, this Saturday.
