The Rifle Team is continuing to show growth as they reached another season record of 1138 on Tuesday, December 2nd against North Gwinnett. Contributing to the new season record were a few new personal records, including a new individual school record. James “J.T.” Wright led the scoring with his new personal record and the new school record of 298. A perfect individual score is 300. The previous individual record of 297 was held by two individuals: Maddy Moyer (currently on the University of Nebraska Rifle Team) and Liv Lusky. Ivy Stowers shot a 289 and Makayla Prosser finished with a 267 for new personal bests. Also contributing to the season high were Liam Kearney, Justice Kiefer, and Joey Dechant. The three new personal records contributed to the team's season high score and showed individual achievements; but the attitude and maturity exhibited by the athletes during the match showed even more improvement. Riflery can cause immense stress, especially on electronic targets, since the athlete is able to see the immediate result of their shot and if they lost a point by merely one millimeter. Being able to overcome those shots and make the needed adjustments is vital to success. The team is showing continual growth in their ability to remain focused, which results in their increased personal scores. “I could not be more proud of the effort being shown by the team members and their willingness to learn, apply what they’ve been shown, and their desire to become better.” said Coach J.
